Thank you to the wonderful folks in SC House District 77 for reelecting me to a fourth term. It has been an honor and privilege to be your voice in the General Assembly for the past 6 years. I plan to continue working in a bi-partisan manner to deliver results for my constituents and will always fight for the values that I hold dear. While I’m grateful to have been reelected, this moment is also bittersweet. Throughout my tenure of service, Democrat representation has continued to erode in both the State House and State Senate. This election cycle has proven to be no different. Unfortunately, 4 Democrat Senators, and 1 Democrat Representative were not re-elected last evening after running very competitive races. Thus, for the upcoming legislative session, 36 out of 124 House members and 12 out of 46 Senators will be Democrats. This means that the Republican Party now has supermajorities in the State House, State Senate along with control of the Governor’s mansion and all 9-statewide constitutional offices. One party controlling all levers of power allows for books bans, Convention of States, banning of diversity/equity/inclusion initiatives, cancellation of federal summer feeding programs, $3.5 billion accounting errors, failing to expand Medicaid, sending public dollars to private schools, open carry, limited reproductive freedom and so much more.We have some perilous days ahead – yet while I breathe, I hope. I encourage you to get involved in your community and state. Our future, and that of our children, depends upon it. See MoreSee Less
